Frederick AUTO REPAIR

I am a Fleet Manager and have been trying to find a competent auto repair vendor in the Frederick Area for most of 20 years. I have tried many shops with no good results until I found 40 West Auto almost a year ago. 40 West Auto Care and Towing takes cares of my fleet vehicles within a reasonable time at a reasonable rate. John has taken care of my fleet needs and I recommend 40 West Auto Care & Towing for your vehicle repair needs.

I first came in contact with 40 West as a result of a call to AAA for a dead battery. The gentleman who came out shortly after the call was knowledgeable and friendly. As we were new to Frederick, I asked him for a referral, and he gave me a business card for 40 West. I have been taking both our cars there ever since and can't say enough about how happy I am with all aspects of the business. The mechanics are very capable, and John, the head mechanic, is always available to answer questions. They are very honest and don't recommend unnecessary work. I heartily recommend 40 West!

I would not recommend this place to anyone, I had my truck towed from Reston Virginia and decided I would let them take care of the repairs, after getting the call that my car is ready they tell me that my car would need a new distributor, I then take it to another mechanic to do a diagnostic test becasue my truck is now showing the check engine light, they tell me that this place used an aftermarket part for my truck and it needs the factory, at this point I'm upset and go in person to talk to the supervisor and he tells me that it doesn't matter what someone else saids, he told me to bring it in person to check it out, and that to make things clear at least the truck starts, but at this point the truck is now having the same problems before it broke down on me, I'd give i 0 stars if I could, this place is a total waste of time

Lied to me and left me adabdoned on the side of the road. Wouldn't use the if they were the last tow company in Frederick! Horrible customer service!

They left a customer stranded in a snow storm after coming out once and saying they would be back and never coming. Do NOT count on this company to help you in your time of need.

You are the worst example of a towing company I have ever experienced. You lied to me, abandoned me in the snow and freezing temperatures and then your dispatcher was rude obnoxious and then hung up on me! If you are the owner you need to get a handle on things or you won't be in business much longer!

My car broke down in I-270 on our way to a hockey tournament, and the guys at 40 West were able to respond quickly enough to get us back on the road in enough time to get to the game in Hershey PA. They were fast, friendly and helpful -- both the towing and repair service staff. After determining the repairs cost more than the car did, we had to figure out a way to get rid of it. We thought we'd have to get it towed back to northern VA to do that, but they suggested we donate it to a local trade school with an automotive shop. It was a super easy process, so they saved us time and money with this option. Highly recommend them if you ever need a tow or repairs in Frederick area or surrounding area.

Had a flat tire on early Wednesday morning in the rain and had to have my car towed back to Frederick. The 40 West driver was amazingly quick (270 rush hour traffic), kind, and very professional. The best experience I've ever had using AAA many times in 25+ years! Would highly recommend this business!

Not happy with my experience here at all. I decided to go with them because they had been recommended by AAA. First, they need to work on their communication. I would like a status update by the end of the day on my vehicle. I don't need to know all the details but a quick, "hey we didn't get done your truck and we will be working on it again tomorrow" would be nice. Second, some of the problems seemed suspect. They would give you a problem but if you disagreed with it or asked for a cause and they couldn't really describe it in a clear way. I actually think that a technician there made a mistake hooking something up in my truck and then they turned around and blamed me for the problem. Finally, I got my truck back and then a few nights later realize the tail lights, cabin lights, speedometer, and multiple other things aren't working. This was over the course of a week so maybe they were just tired of dealing with it but I cant believe I got a vehicle back with so many obvious issues. I will not be going back here and I also looking at filing a complaint with AAA so they can investigate if they want to continue recommending this facility. I am usually not one to complain or make a public statement like this but I just couldn't hold my tongue.
